Why did I choose my major?

When I was little I dreamed of being a fireman, so I could go down the tube and ride in the truck with sirens hahaha until my mother told me that they didn't pay to be a fireman. Another of my dreams was to be a veterinarian because I really liked dogs (I still do), but I was sad to see animals with wounds, plus I'm afraid of blood.

In high school, the vocational counselor gave us a test and all my possible careers were oriented towards pedagogy in humanistic areas, social careers and artistic careers, for example being a teacher of history, language, philosophy and the truth called my attention for a while, but I did not enjoy those subjects, I could also be a psychologist, social worker, sociologist, but they did not convince me at all. In the artistic area, I could have been an architect, but I hated mathematics hahaha besides I never understood them, I could have been an interior decorator, but it didn't call my attention, and of course visual arts, which is what I finally chose.

I decided to study visual arts because I think it is a very complete career and with a great social impact, it is a career with many areas to study, anatomy, history, philosophy, sociology, anthropology, even chemistry; I also believe that art makes you rethink many things, about society, the way you act, think and above all about yourself; I would like to show the rest of the people that it is important this aspect in life.

In making this decision my art teacher was fundamental, his training was very complete, he taught us different techniques, which in other schools did not teach them, I discovered that I liked too much painting with oils and making woodcuts, his vocation and dedication motivated me to want to teach about the arts, so my plan is to get a degree in pedagogy and be able to teach, ideally in more precarious schools, where they tend to limit these subjects.

My experience at the university has been incredible, the focus of the visual arts at the University of Chile is of a social nature, which is very striking, the professors are very good professionals in their area, besides being very humanitarian and empathetic.

I am very happy to be trained in this environment, I would like to never finish my career and to be able to continue sharing with these people for a long time.
