A CAREER RELATED WEBSITE

https://www.instagram.com/womenphotographershistory/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y%3D   The website or rather, an Instagram profile that I follow and always keep an eye on is Women Photographers History.  It is a profile that is dedicated to post -in Spanish and English- about biographical research of women who were present in the history of photography and its development, in a very general way, it tries to break the machismo, stereotype in the area of photography and in the introduction to it. In its feed, you can find different sections; in the featured stories we find publications with information about the page and its creators, the options of patrons to which you can subscribe to access workshops, talks or more information than what is posted. Their posts focus on one woman photographer per day, telling her story, highlighting her contribution to photography and making it visible on social networks, in this case Instagram. I like the site, because it addresses a topic of my interes...

How can your major make the world a better place?

I believe that art makes you rethink many things; about society, the way people act, the way they think and above all about oneself; I would like to show and make other people understand that this aspect can contribute in an exceptional way in their lives. Personally I want to put into practice -through pedagogy-, that through the different areas of art, not only the visual ones, people can express what they cannot achieve with words, address without limits the topics of their interest and feelings.  Art can always be taken beyond the personal, beyond opinion; currently, in our country and in many others, art has the mission and ability to address social issues, beyond expressing an opinion, is to expose the truth, the lie; that children, adolescents, grow up with an artistically rich environment, while taking into account what happens in their environment, that they develop conscious people; That the adults and older adults do not subtract themselves from this important work...

A photo that is meaningfull to me

Imagen
I took this photo at the end of July 2013, during my winter vacations, when I traveled from Parral to Santiago to visit my relatives.  The photo shows my grandfather and my grandmother, in the living room of their apartment; the quality is not the best, my phone back then did not have as good a camera as the ones that exist now. This photo is very important to me, because it is the last photo I have of my grandfather before he died of cancer in August of that same year.  It brings me nice memories of that day, we went to Fantasyland and spent the whole day together, we laughed and talked a lot, since it had been many months since we had seen each other, because the distance limited us to see each other often; it also brings me some sorrow, since that same day he offered me to stay overnight, to go to the beach together the next day and I could not, because I had to return to my uncles' house, which was where I was staying.  Then I went back to Parral, but the following we...

My favourite piece of technology

Imagen
I remember when I was a child, the technological device that I loved with my life was the DVD in the house, it was perfect because a neighbor sold us movies recorded on CD and on days when it rained and the cable TV was not working, I was not left without TV, I could watch my favorite movies over and over again, to the point of wasting the CDs and the movie was cut. Today, replacing my DVD, the love of my life is my computer.   I had my first computer when I was 4 years old, I remember it was a black box, huge and very heavy, with the letters "IBM", it took up almost the entire desk where we rested it, next to a screen that had a box behind it, and it was almost the same or heavier than the pc. Every time I finished using it, I had to put a protective cloth on the keyboard and the screen, something like a keyboard cover, so that dust would not get on them, besides having a mouse, which every now and then failed because a ball underneath it was wrongly placed. In that PC I l...

Why did I choose my major?

Imagen
When I was little I dreamed of being a fireman, so I could go down the tube and ride in the truck with sirens hahaha until my mother told me that they didn't pay to be a fireman. Another of my dreams was to be a veterinarian because I really liked dogs (I still do), but I was sad to see animals with wounds, plus I'm afraid of blood. In high school, the vocational counselor gave us a test and all my possible careers were oriented towards pedagogy in humanistic areas, social careers and artistic careers, for example being a teacher of history, language, philosophy and the truth called my attention for a while, but I did not enjoy those subjects, I could also be a psychologist, social worker, sociologist, but they did not convince me at all. In the artistic area, I could have been an architect, but I hated mathematics hahaha besides I never understood them, I could have been an interior decorator, but it didn't call my attention, and of course visual arts, which is what I fin...

A little piece of me...

Hello everyone! My name is Sofia. I was born in Santiago, specifically in Buin, but I only lived here until I was three years old, I had to leave here at a very young age, because the city air made me sick, I had asthma. I moved to live in Parral with my sister and my parents.  Our new house was huge and had an endless yard, I was able to adopt my first dog. What I liked the most was the climate of the city, it rained very often and in large quantities. I studied all of elementary school in a religious school, yes hahaha, with nuns, it was horrible. Then in high school I studied in a school of Masons, the change was drastic. In that school I met and made very important friendships until today. I am currently studying art and had to move back to Santiago. I like to paint with oils and work with analog photography. I like to listen to music in public spaces, because I hate the noise of the street, I listen to a lot of Chilean rap and trap, when I felt sad I listened to even sad...
